REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
Susquehanna County Redevelopment Authority strives to assist families and municipalities throughout Susquehanna County with revitalization projects that will help make Susquehanna County a better, safer place to live. Funding comes from various grant programs administered by the state of Pennsylvania, including the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development(DCED) and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
ASSISTANCE TO HOMEOWNERS AND FAMILIES
HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAM- The SCHRA administers a housing Rehabilitation program in Susquehanna County. This program provides deferred loans to low income homeowners to make repairs necessary to bring the home up to local or state code. This loan bears no interest and does not have to be repaid until the property is sold or title is transferred. It shall be secured by a lien on the property repayable to "County of Susquehanna.” Repairs include but are not limited to: roofs, windows, doors, siding, heating and electrical repairs and upgrades. Funds are made available through the CDBG and Home Investment Partnership (HOME)Programs. There is currently an approximate three year waiting list for assistance.

ACCESS PROGRAM
The Pennsylvania Access Program provides assistance to permanently disabled residents to make modifications necessary to allow them to remain in the home. The program requires that priority be given to families that have a child under age 18 in the household. Modifications include ramps, door widening, and bathroom and kitchen modifications. ASSISTANCE TO MUNICIPALITIES
The Authority provides assistance to municipalities throughout Susquehanna County with various community development projects. The Susquehanna County Housing/Redevelopment Authority administers the Community Development Block Grant(CDBG) Entitlement Program on behalf of Susquehanna County. The funds are used to assist municipalities with community development and community revitalization projects.
Eligible CDBG activities include:
Clearance , Street/Road Repair, Water Systems, Sanitary Sewer Systems and connections to the system for Low income residents, Public Services, Removal of Architectural Barriers, Public/Community Facilities, Economic Development.
Municipalities may contact the Redevelopment Authority with potential projects to determine if they are eligible for CDBG funding or for assistance from other grant programs.
